::Setting the Standard Facts

The CLS was an important vehicle for publishing my work, and I never feigned reluctance.  The reaction to The Zael Inheritance was favourable and I was happy to provide this essay.

About Acquired Taste

::Setting the Standard

This essay was first published in the Cosmopolis Literary Supplement.  The CLS  is one of the the house ezines of the Vance Integral Edition, and Till Noever, the editor, asked me for an article on how my work had been influenced by Jack Vance.  At the time of writing, Dragonchaser had not been written, and the article draws solely on the experience of The Zael Inheritance.

For technical reasons the text of this essay is best accessed through Foreverness (Choose CLS No13, June 2002).
